Welcome students, families and staff to Carnegie Primary School for 2016. Carnegie Primary School is a growing school with an enrolment this year of about 560 students in 23 classes. Our steadily-growing enrolments allow for greater flexibility, both in staffing and curriculum, while still maintaining a community feel and a sense of belonging for all. We are committed to the development of whole-school effective teaching and learning practices to best support the children in our care. Our vision is to provide an engaging, supportive and inclusive learning environment where children can interact positively in a safe, respectful and cooperative atmosphere.
Term 4 has been full steam ahead and lots of hard work is happening throughout the school. October was a busy month, commencing with a wonderful day of celebration and learning on Japan Day on the 12th. Grade 5 camp took place in week 3 and this year it was an historical camp in Ballarat with visits to Sovereign Hill and other landmarks such as the Art Gallery and M.A.D.E. The grade 5s had a fabulous time and learnt so much about the life and times of the gold rush and Eureka stockade.
The grade 5 camp was followed by the year 2 sleepover. The children had a fun night of activities before sleeping over at school in preparation for off site camps in the later years. Each Thursday in November, we had our transition program for next year's preps. December is now upon us with grade 6 production, grade 6 graduation, Junior (P - 2) Athletics Day and our end of term picnic being the highlights. Bring it on and good luck!
Our school motto is Welcoming, Engaging, Achieving and we always try to live that every day. We promote respect and inclusion as our key values and instil in our students the importance of these as they go about their daily lives and build their relationships. We look forward to a successful new school year in 2016. Good luck, everyone.
